you are heading out on vacation to visit your sister and can't even get out of your departing airport without buying a book.
It's 5:50am, and I haven't even left Detroit yet and I just picked up Neil Gaiman's new book. I had set aside $15 for the new baggage fee but I bought my ticket early enough that the airline waived the fee, so I figure that's found money now, so The Graveyard Book is mine!

I would have this problem, except that the airports I frequent when I travel seem to carry those large paperback versions of new releases rather than a regular hardcover. I think it's worth saving my money for the real thing!
You'll have to let us know how The Graveyard Book is - I've heard a lot about its release, but have seen strangely only a couple of reviews.
I have a separate purse for such 'found' money, a habit copied from my mother, who called it her 'fiddle' purse. Whatever goes in there is mine to spend as I like. Over the years, it has been an endless source of frivolous pleasure.
This was the new terminal at the airport in Detroit (just recently finished within the last few months, I think) and I was pleasantly surprised to find a Borders in the airport that was open that early!
The reason you may not have seen too many reviews on The Graveyard Book is that I think initially it wasn't supposed to come out until Halloween. Amazon even has the book up on preorder status. I'm sure that everywhere I read, that was the date, but there it was on the shelf. According to Neil Gaiman's own website however, it is available now. So I think there has been some confusion ad to when it was to be released.
Ann - That sounds like a great idea! I should try keeping my 'found' money around for a little longer than I do, but like today's example, as soon as I get some in my hand, it's almost immediately spent!
That sounds like something I would do too. Haha!
